Regulation Z (12 CFR Part 1026) implements the Truth in Lending Act (TILA). Issued and enforced by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), it requires accurate, meaningful disclosures of credit costs and terms so consumers can compare offers. For mortgages, it also houses ATR/QM standards, rescission rules, advertising controls, and many TRID Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure requirements.

Key areas covered by Regulation Z

Regulation Z plays a crucial role in consumer protection by standardizing credit disclosures and establishing safeguards against predatory lending practices, particularly in the mortgage market.
